Wine – A Social Elixir

leave a comment »

Ah, wine.

Wine, it seems, is truly a universal elixir. Enjoyed by people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, wine is much more than an important accompaniment to a wide range of dishes. Wine is often a conduit for social interaction and engagement.

Consider the number of different social events that are related to wine. A wine tasting is always a sure bet to draw a crowd, from true aficionados to those just looking to indulge their palettes and have an enjoyable night out. For a more casual evening, wine and cheese parties are a great “excuse” to invite friends over, and perhaps encourage friends of friends to come, each bringing a different bottle and cheese to share and pair.

A quick search on the Internet reveals a plethora of wine-related groups that have formed, providing an opportunity for vino lovers worldwide to connect online and in person.  Some groups, regionally based, offer opportunities to mix and mingle with fellow wine enthusiasts, while exploring the best merlots, cabernet sauvignons, and chardonnays local restaurants have to offer. Others create memorable experiences through tours to the great wine regions of the world.

For those people looking to make deeper connections, a number of dating companies offer wine-themed dating events and excursions.

Wine helps draw people together, it plays an important role in the social fabric of today’s society. Often times, there is no better way to leave a good impression on others than by providing them with a good glass of wine.

Sip will be offering a variety of wine events over the coming months, and we hope that you will be able to join us for them. To ensure that you learn about our future events, be sure to sign up for our online community.

Sippin’ Saki at the Irashai Grill

leave a comment »

Irashai GrillI would like to thank everyone who came out to the Sip event at the Irashai Grill, as well as the fantastic staff who hosted us! We ended up having over 30 people attend, our highest number for a dinner event so far. It’s great to see the interest in Sip building. It was also nice to hear that a number of people went out for coffee afterwards – new friendships were formed.  That is exactly what Sip is about.  To view pictures of the event on Flickr, click here.

Kits Sushi

One of the better sushi restaurants in Vancouver. I am currently enjoying some yam tempura rolls and tuna rolls on Kits beach as I write this.
